Life beyond the world of textiles - hooray for expeditions!

So, as some of you may know, the life of a textiles teacher in my case reaches beyond the sewing machine and a pair of knitting needles. Ivan (Mr Bicknell) and I have bee accompanying students on exped since 2003, I tell you, once you have experienced one you are well and truly hooked, we have travelled to south and central America, India and beyond, each time a challenge but so exhilarating that you come back asking yourself why life can't always be that much fun! Normally these excursions take a month, but last week we were afforded the luxury of a week long exped in Jordan - ha, ha, I thought, only a few days, no having to wash my clothes and make a single loo roll last a whole month, but the sad reality is though, that it just wasn't long enough and now I feel rather cheated, especially as both my team and leaders made the whole experience so  much fun and so very enjoyable..... For all you lecturers out there who have forgotten why it is that you drag yourselves out of bed everyday to face a classroom full of teenagers, then take the plunge and experience something life changing with them, this confirms just how resourceful, impressive and enlightening young people can be, and I defy you not to have the time of your life!
