Yesterday Alton College had a very exciting day - well 24 students and 3 members of the art staff did anyway! Albert Potrony an artist affiliated with the Tate came a did a day of workshop based activities in a bid to prepare us for a new adventure... Alton College is one of around 250 schools/colleges WORLD WIDE taking part in the Unilever/Tate turbine generation initiative, in a nutshell they are forming international collaborations with galleries and schools through a virtual gallery of artwork - the idea is that our partner school which happens to be in Denmark produce some work, place it digitally on our shared homepage and we respond, and so the visual dialogue begins - first they said hello and now we have..... check out http://turbinegeneration.tate.org.uk/ it is explained far better here!
