A little flurry of creativity.

Every summer I try to assign a good proportion of my time to being creative - you know, honing my own skills and doing something fun just for me - wellll, this summer has just been a bit too action packed and I have been a bit slack as a result, so my friend's birthday was a good excuse to get the old sewing machine out and so this little bird was born! If you would like to have a go - they are super easy - check out www.nelliedurand.blogspot.com/2008/04/bird-tutorial.html for instructions. I have made a few now - no idea if people are happy to receive them, but hey ho!
We had this (great) cushion at home which we picked up in China on a college trip a few years ago - yes, we are lucky enough to go to such far flung destinations (Russia next year), and it was woven and beaded and fabulous, but everyone kept sitting on it (yes I know cushions are meant to be sat on), and all the beads kept pinging off, so I have finally given up and taken it out of circulation - so it needed repacing, so I've knocked up this little number, inspired by the work of Rosie and Hannah S from last year.

  1. Your scrappy little bird is a "BIG smile"! Anyone should be delighted to unwrap it as a gift.

May I use your photo of it the next time I post about my bird pattern?
